For the better part of the last 5 years, my job has taken me to Cincinnati, Ohio. Since I have spent so much time there, I have started watching the local news casts when I can. I have viewed each of the news broadcasts in Cinci and have settled on my favorite station – [...] I’m scheduled to take the 2 exams that I need to pass to re-new my A+ certification on this Friday. I took a sample test today to guage how ready I am and I failed it! I’ve been studying hard so I was suprised that I didn’t pass it. Maybe I’ve been studying [...] I did not go out shopping on Black Friday morning as I sometimes do. There just wasn’t anything on sale that morning that I had to have, so I slept in for a change. Actually, I had most of my shopping done before Black Friday anyway. I hate competing with the crowds in [...] I’ve often told my students that software troubleshooting is very tough because of too many variables and the unknown interactions they might produce. Well, this week I’ve had one heck of a software troubleshooting exercise. I bought a game from pogo.com (the actual transaction went through another company, but it was legit). I downloaded the [...] The A+ certification is an industry recognized certification for Computer Repair Technicians. I first obtained mine back in 2000 – when the company I worked for required the certification. It’s a combination of 2 tests – and it’s rather difficult if you have never worked with computers before. You know the technology – it’s called a teleporter. It would be so nice to “beam” myself home each night and then back to work in the morning – 300 miles away. I [...] I have been a fan of Babylon 5 for a while. Today, I read some great news – there’s going to be a new movie made for the Babylon 5 universe. This will be a made for DVD movie and supposedly will be available in 2007. The movie will be written by the [...] Yesterday was election day and boy am I glad it’s over with. I was getting so sick of all the advertisments and automated phone calls. Of course, I voted – even though I am currently on the road for work, I cast my absentee ballot about 3 weeks ago. I am disappointed in one item [...] People don’t like to leave their comfort zones in life – mainly because it makes them feel uncomfortable in some way. The problem with that is if you never venture outside of your comfort zone, there is a good chance that you could miss out on something good. Or, there is a very good [...] Recently, I had a large project for work – develop a laptop computer class. I took a bit of time off from my studies and worked long hours to come up with a manual for the laptop class. I learned quite a bit about laptops along the way. Then I started my studies [...] |
