Well, tonight (ok, technically last night), I drove back home from Cincinnati. But this time was a milestone of sorts. My 2005 Pontiac Vibe rolled 110,000 miles. I originally purchased the Vibe on Feb. 19, 2005. That averages out to be roughly 2,600 miles per month. Geesh… no wonder it can find it’s way home all [...] Today, I decided to visit the Museum of Natural Science in Houston. They had an exhibit about Lucy – the archaeological find of 1974. That was interesting, although no pictures were permitted. Nor could you even put a finger on the case. Geesh… Part of the museum is a butterfly conservatory. THAT was cool. Ok, it wasn’t [...] Well, I arrived just fine in Houston, but my computer didn’t fair so well – the screen got broke. Luckily, I’m still able to use the computer – just have a big black splotch in the upper part of the screen with cracks. Hopefully, that doesn’t get any worse. Today, I went to Space Center Houston. I [...] I’m leaving on Tuesday to spend a few days in Houston, Texas for the Stiles Family reunion. I had already purchased a ticket to visit the Houston Space Center (purchased before May 31 for half price!), so I logged into their website today to get driving directions from the hotel and discovered a very cool exhibit [...] Well, I don’t really think this is a genuine miracle, but it’s close. On my way back to Cincinnati today I passed through a construction zone on US23 just north of Dundee. Both the north and south lanes are down to 1 lane in each direction as they re-build the highway. This being a Sunday, I [...] I just got back from spending a day in Penn Yan, New York visiting a cousin of mine. While there, I stayed at the Showboat Motel on the shores of gorgeous Seneca Lake. When I arrived on Sunday to check in, the office was closed – with a note on the door to go [...] Wow, this conference in Salt Lake City was unbelievable. I arrived Wednesday night with no problems. Thursday morning, I checked into the conference at the hotel and then proceeded to the training center with everyone else on a bus. At first in the check in I thought it was only for people from Michigan since I [...] This is a picture that I took on my recent trip to the northern Michigan area. This is between Charlevoix and Petoskey – along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Little Traverse Bay was also along part of this stretch and was completely covered in snow/ice, but I couldn’t find a spot to take a good picture of [...] This is what the drive up north looked like on Sunday. There was a bit of snowfall overnight in the mid-lower peninsula and this picture was taken before the snowplows got out on 127. When I think of winter in Michigan, this is how I picture it. The drive was [...] Back in 1999, I had to travel to Sweeden for a conference for the SCA, so I obtained a passport. I haven’t had to use it since then and between then and now, I had moved from my little apartment to the house I’m in now. I’m not exactly sure where I put my passport [...] |
